August 2013 LUNCH WITH LEADERS OFFERS PERSPECTIVES ON: “Louisiana’s Stand Your Ground Law: Use, Abuse, Understanding, Suggestions, and Solutions”

Leaders With Vision’s (LWVision) Prospective series of public forum luncheons will focus on “LA’s Stand Your Ground Law: Use, Abuse, Understanding,  Suggestions, and Solutions” in the Audubon Room at Drusilla Place Restaurant, 3482 Drusilla Lane, Baton Rouge on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Noon (doors open at 11:00am). Speakers with different perspectives are invited to each luncheon.

Guest Speakers are:

  • Carl Dabadie, Baton Rouge Chief of Police
  • Shenequa L. Grey, Esq., Associate Professor of Law, SULC; Host of the Legal Roundtable Television Show
  • Michael Mitchell, Esq., Chief 19th Judicial District Defender of Louisiana
  • Hillar Moore, Esq., EBR District Attorney
  • The LA Assoc. of Criminal Defense Attorneys has also been invited but has not formally accepted by the time of this press release.

When asked why the Leaders With Vision sponsors monthly public forums on topics of public interest, Jean Armstrong, LWVision President said,

“Our Community: city, state, and nation can only be as effective as the citizens, who participate in its decisions.”

Doors open at 11:00am. Lunch will be served at 11:40 am and the program will begin promptly at 12:00 noon.  After the presentations by the panel, the audience is invited to ask questions relative to the issue.  The program ends at 1 p.m.

You are cordially invited to participate in the Leaders With Vision, Perspective Series focusing on some of Louisiana’s most challenging topics in the Ball Room at Drusilla Restaurant, 3482 Drusilla Lane, Baton Rouge, on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Noon (doors open at 11:00am).

March’s Perspective is on Education:
“Reflections on Reform: For Better or Worse?”

  • Dr. Diane Ravitch,  Education Historian and former Assistant U.S. Secretary of Education (Accepted)
  • Chas. Roemer, President, LA Board of Elementary & Secondary Education
  • Doors open at 11:00am. Lunch will be served at 11:45am and the program will begin promptly at 12:00 noon. Prepaid Reservations are recommended as approximately 1/3 of the seats have already been purchased.  Cost of the lunch including transaction fees are $22.00 for members and $27.00 for non members. Tables of eight may be purchased for $210.00

Leaders With Vision, a new civic organization without borders, will hold its 1st public event in the Audubon Room at Drusilla Restaurant, 3482 Drusilla Lane, Baton Rouge, on Thursday, February 21th, at Noon (doors open at 11:00am) introducing the Perspectives series of public forums at “Lunch With the Leaders.”  

February’s Perspective is: “Louisiana Tax Reform”,  Leaders who have accepted the opportunity to offer their different perspectives are in alphabetical order:  

  • Jason Decuir, LA. Department of Revenue and Taxation;
  • John Bel Edwards, LA. House of Representatives;
  • Jan Moeller, The Budget Project;
  • Jim Richardson, LSU Economist;
  • Joel Robideaux, Chair, LA House Ways and Means Committee.

Doors open at 11:00am. Lunch will be served at 11:45am and the program will begin promptly at 12:00 noon. Reservations are suggested. Cost of the lunch is $20.00 for members and $25.00 for non members at the door.
